Text Box: Mail - Back up your mail message files
To back up your mail message files, follow these steps:
1. Review your mail message folders and delete any unneeded messages
2. Click the File menu, select Folder > Compact All Folders
3. Find the files with the extension .mbx and .idx on your computer. These files are usually located in a folder under C:\Windows \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Outlook Express \ Mail. Copy the files to a backup folder on your computer, a floppy disk, or a network drive.
Note: Some message files might be too large to back up onto a floppy disk. To restore previously saved messages, copy the *.mbx files in your Mail directory, then delete the corresponding *.idx file, so that Outlook Express will re-create the index next time you select the folder.
NOTE: If the contents of your mailbox changed after you made a back-up, you will lose the messages you received after you made the backup.

Text Box: DVD-R or DVD+R or DVD +- R or RW  What does it mean?
In order to explain this we must take a trip back in time. When DVDs were first being developed, there was no industry standard. Multiple companies were competing to develop what they hoped would be the dominant form of the future. The DVD-R DVD+R difference can easily be summarized by the following: the DVD-R/RW standard was developed by Pioneer, and is used primarily by Apple and Pioneer. These “minus“ discs can only be written to in one layer on the discs surface. In addition, this format is supported by the DVD forum, but is in no way an industry standard. DVD-R/RW discs are cheaper than the “plus” format. The DVD+R/RW format is supported by Philips, Dell, Sony, HP, and Microsoft. These discs can be written to in multiple layers, giving them slightly better and more disc storage.

Text Box: DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME AND COMPUTER GLITCHES
Some people may forget to change their clocks for daylight saving time. But computers and other gadgets are usually programmed to change automatically.
But this year, you could run into some hiccups. Why? Daylight saving time starts three weeks earlier and ends a week later. Programs that adjust automatically for daylight saving time may need patches.
So start planning, especially if you own a business. Vista won’t require a patch, although XP will. Microsoft plans to make the patch available in early March. For other programs and gadgets, check the manufacturers’ sites.
